Lily & Sam's Coastal New England Wedding Day | Avalon Yacht Club | Avalon, NJ

Lily and Sam met during college at La Salle University in Philadelphia. Sam was roommates with one of Lily's good friends and they crossed paths when she was over at her friend's place. Sam was planning to study abroad the next semester, but Lily was smitten and knew that the way she and Sam hit it off was special. They kept in touch virtually while he was abroad and picked right back up when he returned. They were thrilled to be able to go out together in person; they're both foodies and love seeking new and exciting restaurants. Going out for sushi is a quintessential date night for them!

Lily's vision for her and Sam's wedding day was a sun-soaked, Pinterest-worthy beach wedding. They fell in love with Avalon Yacht Club, for its jaw dropping panoramic ocean views and coastal New England vibes. They got ready off site in two separate beachfront Airbnbs, which set the tone for their flowy and free wedding day. Lily is a summer girl and loves the shore; their wedding day perfectly reflected her happy place with sunshine beaming down and the ocean breeze tousling her hair.

Lily looked spectacular in her lacy off-the-shoulder dress made by Grace Loves Lace; it perfectly matched her vision for her classic coastal wedding day. Her bridesmaids wore dresses in shades of blue reminiscent of the ocean itself. Lily shared a heartwarming first look with her dad at the beach house and took photos with her bridesmaids before preparing to travel to Sacred Heart Chapel to make it official with Sam.

The church was lovely with dark wooden pews and beams accented by the soft light pushing past beautiful stained glass. Megan and Sam held a Catholic ceremony at Sacred Heart Church where they pledged their vows in the presence of God and their loved ones.

Lily and Sam commented that this was their favorite part of the day, coming together and finally, after so much planning and anticipation, making it official.

After the ceremony, Lily and Sam traveled to Avalon Yacht Club where we explored the beautiful site capturing their happiness in golden sunshine. As a photographer, I was delighted to balance their gallery with photos against a stunning ocean view and the traditional architecture of the yacht club. Lily's chapel-length veil danced beautifully in the wind and added dramatic flair to many of their photos.

Lily and Sam made it a priority to join cocktail hour so they could maximize their time celebrating their union with everyone who came to support them on their special day. They structured their day in such a way that they were able to join practically all of it. The most important decision they made here was allowing their guests a full hour between leaving the church and arriving for cocktail hour; during this time they were able to get settled and check into their hotels.

As their guests found their seats Lily, Sam, and the Wedding Party prepared for their grand entrance. The room erupted with cheers as the newlyweds entered and transitioned directly into their first dance. Sam brought a lot of flair to their jaw dropping dance, punctuated by dipping Lily with elegance and grace as the song came to an end.

Lily thanked everyone for attending and then the Maid of Honor and Best Man delivered speeches before a delicious steak or crab cake dinner prepared by Avalon Yacht Club was served.

After dinner Lily and Sam cut their stunning three-tiered wedding cake; a chocolate and vanilla layer cake separated by thick layers of buttercream made by Bake Works located in Northfield, New Jersey. Not only was the cake beautifully decorated with pearls and ribbons it also struck the perfect balance between rich and sweet.

Before opening the dance floor we snuck outside for some sunset photos on the water. The bubblegum skies over the water were an absolute treat.

Upon Lily and Sam's return, the DJ/Live Entertainment team from Rock It Entertainment opened the dance floor and struck an exceptional balance of beloved classics and more modern favorites. At one point the musicians came out into the crowd; one with a wearable drum set and the other with a saxophone! The dance floor exploded as the musicians played right next to them; at one point they even passed the drumsticks off to the bride and groom! The rest of the evening was delightful as the drinks continued to flow, desserts were put out and the newlyweds danced the night away with their friends and family.

To Lily & Sam: Here's to blue skies and golden sunshine, a lasting reminder of this unforgettable day that marked the beginning of a new chapter in your lives together!
